MS Access database problem: unable to run event procedure from command button in certain PCs, but it works just fine on some other PCs
environment: Windows XP (SP version doesn’t matter), MS Office Access (2000/2003/2007)

error message:
The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error:
There is an invalid use of the . (dot) or ! operator or invalid parentheses.
* The expression may not result in the name of a macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure].
* There may have been an error evaluating the function, event, or macro.

Solution:
checked Help > About MS Office Access > System Info > Office Applications > MS Office Access > Summary
found missing reference MSComDlg
go to Tools > ActiveX Controls > register COMMON DIALOGS CONTROL from C:\WINDOWS\System32\COMDLG32.ocx
(if it doesn’t exist, copy the file from the working PC)

phew!

now that i found the root of the problem, i feel so stupid that i didn’t notice it earlier >_< ;
such a waste of time i spent hours trying to figure it out i re-installed Windows XP twice plus re-installed MS Office 2000, then MS Office 2003, and then MS Office 2007
i'm so happy that it's solved... but it's so aggravating! >_< ; GRAAAAAA<~

okey so the On Click error was solved, but then i got a bunch of other On procedures error
this database needs more ActiveX components... so as last resort i installed Visual Basic 6.0 Enterprise with all its core ActiveX stuffs
and it worked -_-; *wobbles*
damn this case took away my precious weekend >_<;

Jakarta: In Dire Need of Improvement

After a heart-breaking failure in final interview at DEPLU selection last month, i tried my luck on DEPKOMINFO
And yesterday night, i got the result, i passed ^_^
I’m accepted as Database Administrator at DEPKOMINFO
This morning i submitted my resignation letter to the management, i’m gonna start working there at January 14, 2008 (tentative)

The ticket sales starts today, and i already got the tickets for my most-wanted movie, which happened to be the opening movie this year, Persepolis.
I read in the booklet that Persepolis won the jury prize at this year’s Cannes film festival, and it’s France’s official entry for the Oscar film festival.

didn’t get Chants of Lotus it’s already sold out T_T, damn i shouldn’t rely on him to get me the tickets >_<

Japan invents manga ‘Nobel prize’

Japan has set up a “Nobel prize” for foreign manga comic artists in the hope of spreading its pop culture and winning more fans for its robot villains, mutant heroes and saucer-eyed heroines.

Foreign Minister Taro Aso, an avid manga reader himself, announced yesterday that the government had created the “International MANGA Award” so that artists abroad will obtain a better understanding of Japanese culture.

“We want to make it something like a Nobel prize, although prize money won’t be that big,” Aso told a news conference.

The award is the brainchild of Aso, who first proposed the idea last year in a policy speech he gave in Tokyo’s Akihabara district, the Mecca of Japan’s “otaku” or nerd subculture that cherishes manga and “anime” animation movies.

In that speech, Aso spoke of the power of pop culture to influence the public, referring to how the United States - once Japan’s enemy - won over Japanese hearts with its pop culture, including the cartoon, Popeye.

Winners will be chosen in July by a panel of Japanese manga artists and will be awarded with a 10-day visit to Japan and have a chance to meet Japanese manga artists and publishers.
