Jakarta International Film Festival (JiFFest) 2007

JiFFest 2007
Yep, it’s that time again, the JiFFest festival is here!
check their website for further details www.jiffest.org

The ticket sales starts today, and i already got the tickets for my most-wanted movie, which happened to be the opening movie this year, Persepolis.
I read in the booklet that Persepolis won the jury prize at this year’s Cannes film festival, and it’s France’s official entry for the Oscar film festival.

lol, look at what the reviewer said at their website about the award winners:

Some say that judging quality of a film by the number of awards is a fool’s errand, because one should be able to think for oneself. But nonetheless, awards are given by quite smart people to other smart people.
So if you’re looking for films that have been vouched by some smart people, the following is a list, non-exhaustive of course, of award-winning and award-nominated feature films playing at JiFFest this year.
Because you never know, you might have a good laugh watching these films saying, “smart people called this good?”

i’m excited about this event, i wonder how many movie i can watch this year…

update 6-Dec-07
just got back from JiFFest venue, i got the access cards to watch these movies: Vitus, Paprika, and The Conductors (plus Persepolis of course)
didn’t get Chants of Lotus it’s already sold out T_T, damn i shouldn’t rely on him to get me the tickets >_<

  2. Halo iba/yuzuri, thanks for visiting :)

Yeah I was broke and I hadn’t gotten any translating/design job for about three months at the time so I decided whattaheck, let’s at least donate my skills to a worthy cause :) (or at least a cause that I’m sure I can’t possibly mess up :p)

You know you could always plan an unpaid vacation during festival season; some of the JiFFest volunteers have full-time jobs elsewhere and they took a vacation just so that they can help out. It is definitely not about the pay; and it sure is fun to be involved in the biggest film festival (by public attendance) in South East Asia.
